What It Is
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is an Abu Dhabi-based applied research center and the technology research pillar of the Advanced Technology Research Council. TII’s AI and machine learning division (operating as tiiuae on Hugging Face) produces open-source large language models and multimodal systems under the Falcon brand.

- Falcon LLM series: open-weight large language models (Falcon-7B, Falcon-40B, Falcon-180B) that were state-of-the-art open models at release
- Falcon Perception (2026): 0.6B early-fusion Transformer for open-vocabulary grounding and segmentation; 68.0 Macro-F1 on SA-Co, outperforming SAM 3
- Falcon OCR (2026): 0.3B early-fusion model for document understanding; 80.3% on olmOCR, 88.64 on OmniDocBench — highest throughput among open-source OCR models
